Whats the best software for strings?

Posted by LewToons - April 18th, 2012

i'm between logic and protools now that i have some money to actually get something better than garageband

i really want something that has strings that actually sound good and semi real (Again vs Garageband haha)

any thoughts, insights, two cents thrown in, would be MUCH appreciated

thanks all

thanks man! i'll check it out for sure

I can't help you too much on that, I just know that ProTools is the software used by many professionals in the voice acting biz. They told me once it's the standard in that area.

If you want strings, why not use VST instruments or even better sample libraries?
As for sample libraries, you'll need the "Kontakt player" software by Native Intruments to load the sample libraries. Good sounding string sample libraries are L.A. Scoring Strings, Hollywood Strings and many other, I can't remember them right now but these are about the best ones (but not that cheap).

If you need any more information on that matter just send me a PM.

which program are these sample libs for?

I use Fruity Loops (the piano roll feature is awesome) and EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Strings. It's kinda unnecessarily heavy duty and maybe more than you'd want to invest, I just happen to have stuff like that sticking around from when I used to work on music, before I got really into animating. I would say Sytrus is a great simple plugin if you're just looking for something light though, as the guy below suggested. Also runs really well in FL
