JLA - vs AVENGERS ( this argument mostly factoring out many of the..."weaker" heroes)
here's my perspective -
The combined brains of stark and banner would have superman rendered useless from the get go ( i mean look how easily he was fooled in justice league doom!!) Bruce wayne may be wise and cunning but ..not enough to outsmart those two i am afraid.
with superman out of the picture, no one remaining can even give the hulk pause.
Lets not forget stark's brilliance and thor's intergalactic knowledge likely bringing a swift end to lantern as well.
flash could be quite an issue for the avengers i'll give jla that....so ..yeah
i cant say i keep up new avengers comics but isnt wolverine in there now?....WHA?? add him to the mix and you have two of the hardest to kill characters in comics DC or marvel.(heroes)
anyways, i suppose it comes down to DC giving their characters weaknesses so they can feel a bit more grounded to the readers - which is a very good thing, hell i even prefer most dc characters to marvel....
i just don't think they would win. Marvel has made their U so over powered that it's kinda like a circus.

Well you've got to understand that the JLA isn't just under 10 people like most Avenger team's are, and I know you said factoring out many of the weaker heroes, but still, many side-stream heroes are pretty over powered in DC.
I can see what you're saying about banner and Stark working together to take out superman... but I don't think it would happen very easily lol. You've got to remember superman is possibly the most broken character ever (At least top 5), faster than the flash, able to push planets, has a key to the fortress of solitude that weighs half a million pounds, super genius, I could go on lol. If any of the characters among the Avengers could take down superman I'd give it to Thor (I'm assuming you're talking about the first team and not one of the other 50 Avengers teams lol). Only because superman has his weakness to magic and as we know Thor is a god.
Moving on the other JLA heroes (I'l try to stick with the main group) You've got Green lantern who is also over powered and can pretty much create anything his mind can imagine so long as his ring is charged. Wonder woman is pretty much female superman (ignoring the obvious parts), Tony stark is pretty much Marvel's version of Bruce wayne... but I honestly think batman would find away around the suit (This is up for debate, I don't want to say he'd just win because he's batman lol but we've seen him do more than we all thought possible). Martian man hunter is a telepath and can also just phase through anyone killing them instantly, and Flash has the speed force and can pretty much move at speeds beyond a god (Or time...).
Some people could argue that Hulk could beat superman, but that fight did happen before (Even though fans voted it, superman won), the most I've seen hulk do is stomp on the ground and create an earthquake that covered almost an entire ocean plus survive the power of 1000 exploding suns (When he fought sentry in planet hulk), but again superman can push planets, and has flown into suns no problem lol.
All in all I love both Marvel and DC, The Avengers, and The Justice league, and I know marvel is the favorite among the public and the crowd (And for some reason people have an unknown hate for DC I to this day don't get), but I'd have to give that fight to the JLA. Sorry if this got a little wordy lol

i'll start with this. you have brought SO many great and VALID arguments
superman did beat hulk, we all saw it. but.....big WHOOP!...superman is like the only character that CAN beat him..............ONE ON ONE ONLY though....(which is why i have to stick to my banner + stark point) an ounce of help from stark and hulk PULVERIZES superman...IMO anyways (and if you didnt check out justice league doom...superman is easily duped into a kryptonite situation; something stark could think of in his sleep http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mt ntTvuv8Aw <<speaking of one of the greatest energy sources known to man!)
you are definitely right about wonder woman though - - and i do constantly underestimate her...and honestly...i just dont know her...at all. brass tax...i just don't really know her powers and storyline well...
you are also right about manhunter... he is actually one of my favorite heroes and i pray to god each night that they wont put him in any movies - - i will say...hulk would be unaffected by his mind powers and probably end up crushing his skull into alien jelly.( i believe i am referencing a very old episode/issue of hulk where prof x couldn't tap in because of the dual personalities)
but i appreciate you commenting! these arguments are so fun! there are just two points i really disagree on strongly
1.) wayne wouldn't ever find a way to best stark. (and i prefer batman to iron man so i am being unbiased! but the clip above really says it all ...& is fucking funny...haha)
2.) i find more and more and more - people favor DC ( least comic book wise...i mean consider the new 52!!!! its awesome...least i think so... i havent read a marvel comic book in like 5 years haha..but yeah..) seems like DC really holds the grip on peoples hearts (ESP lantern....people are die hard lantern and batman fans)...and no...i am not including that pile of puke shit dribble "green lantern: the feature film, staring ryan reynolds" - - oh shit and the nolan batman movies too...that has people crawling up DC's butthole so hard..but i digress.
